A Tour of my Amazon Shop

Depending on how much time you’ve spent exploring www.downwiththepastryarchy.com, you may have noticed that there is a SHOP tab on the homepage. It’s one of the ways you can connect with my e-book, and also the access point to reach a carefully curated directory of my favourite Celiac friendly products, tools, and services. You will find direct links to whole shops like Carina Organics, Red Apple Lipstick, Wild Zora, Paleo on the Go, ShopAIP, and others. And you will also find my favourite books and products in my Amazon Affiliate shop. Some of these will be familiar items that you’ve seen in local markets, and others might be totally new to you. The best part of shopping with me is that you can rest assured that I have already gone to the effort of contacting the company to ensure that it is absolutely safe for Celiacs and those who need to avoid gluten or grains. Some products may contain traces of other common allergens (like nuts, and in some cases ingredients derived from corn), so please be sure to check the details if you have additional allergies.

I want to highlight a few of my favourite items for you:

Otto’s Cassava Flour is nothing short of revolutionary! It is a tuber (root vegetable) and thus is completely grain free! This brand is especially high quality, and is certified gluten free. It can be used in all of your old favourite recipes, exactly like you would have used wheat flour. I use it to make pie crust, cookies, waffles, pancakes, muffins, soft pretzels, gnocchi, and tortillas. All of them have turned out amazing and have had exceptionally positive feedback, even from humans who can tolerate standard, gluten containing foods.

No Tomato Ketchup is the most magical sauce! I like it better than tomato ketchup, and it contains more nutrients. It has all of the flavour, without any of the pain and inflammation I get from eating nightshades (like tomatoes). It pairs especially well with white sweet potato fries and lettuce wrapped burgers.

Pau d’Arco Tea is super helpful for those of us who deal with bloating, or irregular bowel function. It encourages things to move through the digestive system at a comfortable pace, and makes for easier bowel movements (without creating uncomfortable urgency). This one from Buddha Teas has nice flavour, and is gluten and corn free.

Maison Orphee Balsamic Vinegar is my favourite vinegar, whether I’m dipping sweet potato fries, dressing salad, or marinating beef. It’s a high quality, Canadian product, and is clearly labelled gluten free.

Apple Cinnamon Tigernut Granola is sooo tasty! I have it for breakfast fairly often, paired with fresh sliced fruit, and chilled, full fat coconut milk (which subs in nicely for yoghurt). The granola isn’t too sweet, and is also nut free.

Blackstrap Molasses is my secret weapon for boosting iron levels. I think it works particularly well because it has vitamin B12, folate, and iron all together in one place, and we need all three working in harmony for our bodies to be able to make use of these vital nutrients. Read more here about their importance and some of my favourite recipes here.

I tend not to be a big fan of single function kitchen gadgets, but my Spiralizer has been a life saver! Part of making gluten free living sustainable is finding ways to keep food enjoyable. For me, noodles are a part of that, so discovering this incredible way to make vegetables into noodles was incredible! I’ve tested many vegetables and different sizes of noodles, and I think I like zucchini noodles best when they are cut thicker and sauteed, and yellow and bullseye beets a bit thinner. So far I like the flavour and texture of these options best.

My Stick Blender is quite possibly the most used gadget in my kitchen. I use it with the deep cup to make smoothies, use it to blend soups and sauces, and even use the mini food processor attachment for small batch jobs. The whisk attachment has helped make many a batch of whipped coconut cream, and even helped me make marshmallows from scratch for a friend’s birthday.

Badger Balm Lip Balm is delightful! I have either a Cool Mint or Creamy Cocoa stick in every room of my home. It’s creamy, nourishing, certified gluten free, doesn’t contain grains or soy, and doesn’t contain alcohol (many commercial lip balms do so as to dry out the lips and cause you to need to apply more).

Nourish Cookbook is my favourite autoimmune paleo (AIP) cookbook. The recipes are practical, accessible, and based on ingredients I actually want to eat. It also seems to have the most lower histamine recipes of any of the AIP cookbooks I’ve looked at.

The Paleo Approach reads almost like a textbook. It provides foundational knowledge for understanding autoimmune conditions, how they work, and how you can support your body to heal and remain in remission.

The Last Best Cure is a fascinating study on the impact of yoga, acupuncture, counseling and meditation. The author is a medical journalist, who has chronic illnesses herself. The book follows her through a year long experiment to see what impact these therapies can have on our health. The results are astounding! So I’ve also included a section with resources for mindfulness, like this spiffy yoga mat.

There are so many great things in the shop, I could spend all day telling you about them! Instead, I’ll invite you to go explore the shop yourself! And if you know about an awesome product that I don’t have in the shop yet, please send me an email at support@downwiththepastryarchy.com.
